In the future, you will be asking, "You want fries with that?"
A York, PA principal has a novel idea - a set of "undiplomas" to distribute to kids who are thinking of dropping out. The undiplomas will look like real diplomas and will point out just what the potential dropout stands to lose, such as a possible "$420,000 in earnings during his or her lifetime by working in low-wage jobs or being unemployed." Over five percent of the student body dropped out last year, and the principal is obviously looking around for a wake-up call to the youngsters in York. I'm thinking a "This Is Your Life" video might be more effective - you know those gruesome car crash videos that kids have to watch in Driver's Ed? Something like that, only showing financial disasters instead of three-car pileups.
Yeah, I don't know how you'd film that, either.
