SAT or not SAT?
The SAT is in the news again. Here' s the link to the NRO article by Stanley Kurtz at the National Review online. (And here's the New York Times story that's referred to in the NRO article. It's also on The Wall Street Journal website, but a subscription is necessary to read it online. You can also read about it on Salon.com, and in the Washington Post.
Unfortunately, I haven't the time right now to go into a lengthy discussion of the quality of the proposed changes, but I will post one soon. Let me just say that the National Review once again presents my viewpoint more elegantly than I can:
"If poor or minority students test lower on the SAT's than others, the way to solve the problem is to improve the conditions of life for these children, not to pretend that aptitude differences among high school students don't exist."
Amen.
