The day has finally arrived - the first Carnival of Homeschooling. Henry and Janine Cate are the organizers, and they've got tons of links. Not suprisingly, the homeschoolers who refuse to be quiet when others insist their children aren't "socialized" are referred to as the Lion Tamers, and most of them note that socialization can be bad as well as good.
In reading their posts, I realized that while it's trendy for those in the educational establishment to oppose NCLB by claiming that it ignores the "individuality" of each child, those same establishment folks insist that students who recieve very individual socialization via homeschooling are missing out by not being offered the exact same social experiences as those in their class and age group. Interesting how that works, isn't it?Posted by kswygert at January 3, 2006 06:18 PM
